about

The origins of this lovely song are somewhat unknown as I first heard it in a sacred circle, sung by the Shaman. The best I could do in tracking it down was to link it to an Indian voice teacher who taught the melody to one of her foreign students.

Krishna is the God of love unconditional and this song is a prayer of adoration, devotion and request that the qualities of love always, be reflected from the inner space of the heart out to the world.

lyrics

Baso mere nainan men Nandalaal.
Mohani moorat saanvaree soorat,
Nainaa bane vishaal.

Baso mere nainan men Nandalaal.
Mira ke Prabhu santan sukhdayee,
Bhakta vachhal Gopaal.

O Son of Nand (Krishna) Come and reside in my eyes.
Your dark complexion is charming to look at.
Thy eyes are lovely, handsome and large.
Nectar is spreading on Thy lips, and a flute is placed there upon.
Mira's Lord is very compassionate and
takes loving care of His devotees, and delights the hearts of holymen!
